MSI Afterburner cannot detect lossless scaling FPS due to how it interfaces with the system, whereas XBOX game bar might have a different method of monitoring FPS that captures the scaled FPS correctly. It could be related to how each tool interacts with the graphics drivers or how they interpret the display output. After enabling the Xbox Game Bar for monitoring FPS, I then turn on MSI Afterburner. I still use RivaTuner for frame limiting, but I turn off the on-screen display since I’m already using the Xbox Game Bar. The jump from 30FPS to 144FPS is a new experience for me. I think it’s because of the Xbox game. Normally, if I capped at 30FPS, the scaled FPS would be 60FPS. But when using the Xbox Game Bar, the scaled FPS max out at my screen refresh rate of 144Hz. This is such a massive result since the game runs buttery smooth, with no ghosting or screen tearing; it feels the same as native gameplay. It’s unbelievable. Not all games work like magic like this; in some games, the FPS will only show 30FPS even though lossless scaling shows 144FPS. It’s only fake FPS.
