Policy Deployment, also known as Hoshin Planning or Hoshin Kanrii, is a specific form of strategic planning in companies focused on Continuous Improvement.
Policy deployment is the Lean management method that turns strategy into actionable activities at the front line. It focuses on developing the processes you need to meet your goals.
This form of strategic planning cascades down the levels of the organization, and assigns and coordinates portions of the responsibility for meeting goals to each group. At the bottom levels, if you add up all the bottom-level goals, you would achieve the annual target derived from the 3-5 year plan.
