Hello all, part of "free knowledge for all" drive, today I am uploading the video on my PhD thesis i.e. "Synthesis and Biomedical application of Ginsenoside conjugate and metal nanoparticles".
Nanotechnology is a revolutionary concept in the field of medical science and engineering, which enables us to develop biocompatible nanoparticles for drug delivery applications.
Brief abstract of the thesis is as follows-:
Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng Meyer) is considered as one of the important medicinal plant in oriental medicine. Ginsenoside, a triterpenoid that is present only in ginseng is known to exhibit numerous pharmacological efficacies like increase immunization functions, anti-inflammatory effects, protective effects against Alzheimer’s disease, anti-diabetic activity, improving liver functions and anti-cancer effects. To improve the solubility and target specific delivery of ginsenosides, we loaded it Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNPs) which considered as a biocompatible carrier. In addition, we applied these developed nanoparticles in cancer and inflammation cell lines (in vitro). This approach could also be used to other ginsenosides to improve their delivery and solubility.
The second study shows green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) by biocompatible approach using microorganisms and Panax ginseng plant, to avoid the side effects of physio-chemical synthesis including toxicity, hazardous byproducts and synthesis cost. Moreover, the silver nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles were demonstrated for enhancing antimicrobial efficacy of commercial antibiotics, exhibiting biofilm inhibition, anti-coagulant effect, anticancer and anti-inflammatory efficacy. The low cytotoxicity, anti-microbial efficacy, biofilm inhibition activity, blood compatibility and stable nature of silver nanoparticles and gold nanoparticles suggest their use on biomedical background in drug delivery, antimicrobial devices, anticancer and anti-inflammatory agents etc.
