How To Stretch Your Upper Traps
The upper fibres of your trapezius muscle is responsible for upward rotation and elevation of the shoulder blade and extension of your neck.
It also acts individually to bend your neck on the same side and rotate towards the opposite side.
How do we stretch?
We perform the opposite movements.
Also, placing your arm behind your head depresses the scapula and also downwardly rotates it, increase the intensity of the stretch.
Hold for 15-20 seconds and repeat on the other side.
Remember, not all “tight” muscles need to be stretched!
Some perceived tightness can be masked as weakness so it’s important to see a PT to assess what you need!
