The family of 16-year-old Varney Kennedy, Jr. met Wednesday evening to pray and ask the community for peace in the spot where their son died. The Golden Valley teen was shot in the backseat of a vehicle outside Digir African Market at 5700 Brookdale Drive. “Varney is gone, but let that be an example. Let this be a benchmark for change,” said the victim’s mother.
