Learn how to detect and remove spyware effectively using powerful antivirus software. Safeguard your digital privacy and security now!
Hey everyone, welcome back. And in today’s video, we’re gonna be talking about spyware and how you can remove it with the help of an antivirus. I’ll be explaining what a spyware is, how you can tell if you’ve been infected with one, and how to get rid of it using an antivirus. Now, I’ll be mainly using Norton 360 for demonstration, as it is my favorite to use, but the process should relatively be the same for other top AVs as well. Also, I’ll leave some in-depth reviews of Norton, as well as other antiviruses that I usually recommend, in the description down below, along with some discounts. Alright, so first things first, what are spyware? Well, a spyware is a type of malware that secretly infiltrates a computer or device to collect sensitive information and relay it to a remote server. This information can include browsing habits, keystrokes, login credentials, and personal data, which compromises your overall privacy and security. Now, spyware typically operates covertly, making it pretty difficult to detect and remove. It may be distributed through deceptive downloads, email attachments, or infected websites. The primary goal of spyware is usually to profit from the stolen data, whether through targeted advertising, selling the information to third parties, or even engaging in more nefarious activities like identity theft. With that being said, how can you tell that your device is infected with spyware? Now if you’re on your mobile device, its much easier to tell that you’ve been infected with malware. For starters, you’ll experience extreme sluggishness and low responses. You’ll also find pop ups and ads since most spyware nowadays comes packaged with adware as well. Other than that, you’ll find a bunch of engines and home pages that you don’t remember installing. Okay, with that being said, how can you remove spyware from your device using an antivirus program? Well, the process is pretty simple. All you need to do is run a full scan using your antivirus, and most top AVs will automatically neutralize any piece of malware they may find. For example, to run a full scan with Norton, open up the app, look for the device security option, and click on the arrow pointing downwards right next to “Open”. From there, click on “scan options,” which will open up a menu of different types of scans that you can do. So choose the full scan option and click on “Go”, which would start the scan. As for mobile, before running a full scan, I would usually recommend going into your list of apps and deleting any apps that you’ve never downloaded yourself. Phone spyware may be able to hide themselves on your homescreen, but the app manager would always reveal them in the settings. Now, there is another method that you can use in case your antivirus could not pick up the spyware, and that would be using your Windows Defender offline scan option. Sometimes spyware hides in your PC in the form of essential system files such as drivers or DLL files, making it tough to identify the spyware for antiviruses when your PC is running. That’s why you should try Windows Defender offline scan. It will scan your PC before the operating system or any executable file starts, allowing it to easily identify the spyware and remove it. To run the offline scan, click on the Start menu and type "Windows Security" to open it. Now, click on "Virus and Threat Protection," then click on "Scan Options." Select "Microsoft Defender Antivirus Offline Scan" and click on "Scan Now." Your PC will then restart, and the scan will begin. Once the scan is finished, follow the next instructions and finalize the scan. So if you’re interested in getting yourself an antivirus, I’ll leave some in-depth reviews on some AV’s that I’d usually recommend to friends and family in the description below, along with some discounts. And that’s it for today’s video. If you liked the content or found it useful, make sure to like the video and subscribe to see more of it.
