Despite what you may think, sometimes buying a more expensive pair of shoes can actually save you money! Crazy I know, but hear me out. If you were to save money and buy a more expensive pair of Goodyear welted shoes, rather than buying a cheap cemented or blake stitched pair, then actually you can save money in the long term. The Goodyear welted shoes can be properly maintained and eventually when they need resoling, the Goodyear welt means that the fit and shape of the shoe will remain perfect, and new soles can be fitted. This can continuously extend the life of the shoes. On the other hand, you could spend a fraction of the cost and buy cheap cemented shoes, but you will wear through them and the only solution would be to buy brand new ones all over again. Over the course of a decade, you can end up spending more on multiple pairs of cheap shoes, than you would buying the more expensive Goodyear welted shoes just once!
