When considering having a Rhinoplasty, it is important to keep in mind that everyone's face shape is different and thus, so is everyone's perfect nose shape. - You must fast (no water or food) for at least 8 hours before surgery.
- You must inform the clinic if you are taking any medication or have any illness.
- First time rhinoplasty often takes between 2-3 hours to complete.
- You may leave the clinic once you are fully alert and do not feel dizzy. This usually takes anywhere from 1-3 hours.
- You must return to the clinic 2-3 times within 1 week for your scheduled checkups.
- You must ice as much as possible under the doctor’s directions.
- The protective splint is normally removed after 5 days.
- Taping and stitches are removed normally after 7 days.
- Your nose is very swollen at first and some people swell more than others.
- The under eye area can bruise, especially if you have double osteotomy.
- To others, you will look fine after 1-4 weeks. However, you may think your nose is bigger than the final outcome because it is still swollen.
- Full setting takes place between 6-12 months after surgery.
- There are limits to what rhinoplasty can accomplish, it is important to know what is possible and what is not possible.
