Large Doll haul featuring my secondhand doll finds over the last few weeks from flea markets and thrift stores. I have a heap of different dolls in this one from mostly popular lines: Barbie My Scene Bratz Catwalk Kitties Gloobee Real Life Expressions, Celluloid Japanese Doll Lalaloopsy etc. Not only were they great finds but the majority of this dolly haul are in super condition too. I don't feel like I have to do much to fix these girls. Doll hair is generally the only gripe.
I am a bit stickler for making your secondhand purchases based off educated prices. What I mean is that you visit a bunch of secondhand store and market types. Get the lower end prices for doll types noted and then the higher end for secondhand doll types. Inbetween these two prices make an informed purchase price for dolls. GENERALLY DO NOT USE EBAY AS PRICE GUIDE. Use a Charity store or non-secondhand dealer market stall. A secondhand dealer or ebay seller is almost always going to sell you a doll they picked up cheaper at a thrift store with a markup.
In my market there are two female sellers that frequent the charity stores and markup their doll sales by 50%. I've seen them purchase Lalaloopsy dolls for $4.50 and then put them for sale at the markets for $10. When starting to scan flea markets, get to know the 'regular' sellers. You can occassionally get a bargin of them as they tend to be stupid with rare dolls and are just interested in a quick buck over actually knowing the dolls in a bracket that are worth a bit (what I mean is they may know that My Scene they can sell for say $10 to the Joe Schmoo but won't know that there are some My Scene dolls worth $$$).
Get to know your Charity Shop workers. In cases like the celluloid doll I showed today, if you are friendly/nice they will direct you to where there might be something you are interested in. They will also happily sell a product to a collector over a reseller. I've been collecting for many years.
