A violent confrontation between members of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and members of the Brackenfell community took place when the EFF tried to march through the suburb to Brackenfell High School.
The EFF were stopped by a mob of mostly white community members as they tried to proceed to the school to handover a memorandum of demands calling for the principal and two teachers to be hired after an event at the school allegedly excluded black students.
Someone from the community grabbed the beret of an EFF member before the move set on the protesters and started assaulting them. A black female EFF member can be seen being beaten with a pick axe handle as she tries to flee as the mob of community members tried to force them out of the suburb.
Members of the press were also attacked and threatened by the Brackenfell community protesters
