My review of the barebones pitiful effort new UHD release of the iconic ENTER THE DRAGON from Warner Bros. Not only did the studio remove nearly all of the legacy extras, they made nothing new for the film's 50th anniversary. The new 4K master is truly great and the best the film has ever looked on video-however Warner opted for HDR10 only and performed truly sloppy encoding that causes compression and encoding artifacts in both cuts.
Arrow Video was not allowed to work on Enter the Dragon in their Bruce Lee boxset so it makes every fan sad at the thought of what could have been. Had Arrow been allowed to work with this same master we would've had a beautiful maxed bitrate Dolby Vision graded UHD to match their stellar UHDs of Lee's other film in addition to legacy extras and a multitude of new extras. This Warner UHD doesn't just pale in comparison to any disc in the Arrow set-it is an insult to fans in comparison.
Thankfully the restored mono audio for both cuts that was on the Criterion Blu-ray release is present here and the proper way to enjoy the film. The Atmos remix is a redo of the 1998 5.1 and distracting with inferior balance and levels compared to the mono mix in all areas.
Arrow should be allowed to handle this 4K master and release their own version in the UK.
