The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. The competition supports their capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience with the assistance of one power point slide.
Faculty of Business PhD student Vivien Forner was selected as the UOW 3MT winner for 2019 - ‘How can we stop emergency service volunteers from quitting’ and will represent UOW at the 3MT Asia Pacific final.
Runner up was Mr Charbel Tawk (Faculty of EIS). His presentation ‘Don’t take it for granted, for some it’s a dream’, was about his research into enabling the sense of touch in robotic hands.
There were two winners for the People’s Choice category – the two recipients were: Lingzhi Kang (AIIM) who presented on ‘Artificial skin for burn patients’ and Arbab Tufail (EIS) ‘Shining a light on wastewater’.
