Welcome to ION International's coverage of the BET Awards 2024! This year's ceremony was a night to remember, kicking off with an electrifying performance by Megan Thee Stallion. Hosted by the incredible Taraji P. Henson, the event celebrated the best in Black entertainment across music, film, television, and sports.

Drake led the nominations with seven nods, including Album of the Year for “For All The Dogs (Scary Hours Edition).” Nicki Minaj followed closely with six nominations for “Pink Friday 2.” Some standout performances included Will Smith and Lauryn Hill, but the highlight of the evening was Usher receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award after a showstopping tribute performance by Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, and Coco Jones. Usher also took home the award for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.

Key winners of the night included Killer Mike, who won Album of the Year for "Michael," and SZA, who took home Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Usher not only received the Lifetime Achievement Award but also won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. The Best Collaboration award went to Usher, Summer Walker, and 21 Savage for “Good Good.” In the hip-hop categories, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion were in the running for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, while Drake, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar competed for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. Victoria Monét won Video of the Year for “On My Mama,” and Tyla was named Best New Artist. The Viewers’ Choice Award also went to Victoria Monét for “On My Mama.”
