In a recently unearthed podcast interview, Leslye Headland, the creator of the upcoming Star Wars show The Acolyte, put her foot in her mouth by minimizing the impact of George Lucas on the creation of the franchise. Due to historical illiteracy as it pertains to the creation of Star Wars and the way the film idea was sold to Fox, she mistakenly believes that much of the credit for the Star Wars myth should go to Ralph McQuarrie. Naturally, we don't want to minimize the brilliant artwork of Mr. McQuarrie, but this is barking up the wrong tree for most Star Wars fans. George Lucas IS the creative vision behind the beautiful Star Wars galaxy, and the loss of him as a creative force behind Star Wars is evident now that Disney has taken over.
