Jake Runestad je mlad ameriški skladatelj in dirigent. Komponira glasbo različnih žanrov za različne zasedbe, najbolj prepoznaven pa je po opernih, orkestrskih in zborovskih delih.

Skladba I Will Lift Mine Eyes, ki so jo izvajali celo v Sikstinski kapeli za papeža Frančiška, je uglasbitev čudovitega Psalma 121:

Svoje oči vzdigujem h goram:
od kod bo prišla moja pomoč?
Moja pomoč je od Gospoda,
ki je naredil nebo in zemljo.

Naj ne da, da bi tvoja noga omahovala,
tvoj varuh naj ne dremlje.
Glej, ne dremlje, ne spi,
Izraelov varuh.

Gospod je tvoj varuh,
Gospod je tvoja senca,
nad tvojo desno roko.
Podnevi te ne bo udarilo sonce,
ne luna ponoči.

Gospod te bo varoval vsega hudega,
varoval bo tvoje življenje.
Gospod bo varoval tvoje odhajanje in prihajanje,
od zdaj in do večnosti.

Jake Runestad is a young American composer and conductor. He composes music of different genres for different ensembles, but he is most known for his opera, orchestral and choral music.

His composition I Will Lift Mine Eyes, which was even performed in the Sistine Chapel for Pope Francis, takes its adapted text from Psalm 121:

I will lift mine eyes to the hills.
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
He is the maker of heav’n and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved.
He who keeps you will not slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper
the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not harm you by day
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil.
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in
from this day forth for evermore.
