God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, marking the first cross-gen release in the God of War series.

Kratos
The Spartan God of War has made a new life in Midgard. Fatherhood has given Kratos renewed purpose. With Ragnarök on the horizon, the stakes have never been higher. Kratos must choose between protecting his son — and the life they've built together — and defending the Nine Realms from cataclysmic war.

Atreus
Atreus is the teenage demigod son of Kratos and the giantess Laufey. He is known to the giants and Aesir as “Loki.” As Ragnarök approaches, Atreus is desperate to explore and better understand his identity and find his place in the world. He has trained hard with his father and while their relationship remains strong, Atreus is eager to begin forging a path of his own.

Mimir
He may be a re-animated severed head, but Mimir retains his title as the smartest man alive. When Kratos and Atreus freed him from Odin’s tree prison, Mimir joined their adventure and became a close friend and advisor to the father and son. As the Nine Realms descend into chaos, they will need his sage wisdom now more than ever.

Thor
Thor, the legendary god of thunder, is Odin’s son and a champion of the Aesir. His sons, Magni and Modi, were killed by Kratos and Atreus as they fought alongside Baldur.

The Bear and the Wolf
Training through Fimbulwinter, the bond between Kratos and Atreus remains strong. But with Ragnarök approaching, their relationship faces difficult new challenges. Kratos, the great bear, wants nothing to do with the Jötnar prophecy. He has become a good father and wants nothing more than to protect his son. Atreus, the young wolf, is now in his adolescence and full of questions. His past, Loki’s prophecy, the fate of the Giants — all of the answers are out there, across the Nine Realms, waiting to be discovered.

Heroes of Midgard
This chosen family, this motley crew of heroes, is Midgard’s greatest chance at preventing cataclysmic war. In moments of rest, the time between battles, their bold, disparate personalities shine brightest. In peace, they enjoy each other’s company, trading stories, sharing meals and strengthening the bonds that will help them through life’s hardest moments. The stakes have never been higher, to endure Ragnarök, they must stand together as a united front.
