When Only 18 Americans HUMILIATED the Entire 1st Nazi Panzer Division
Lieutenant Lyle Bouck spent his twenty-first birthday injured, captured, and thinking that he’d just failed in battle, when in reality, he’d achieved a remarkable victory.
It was December 1944, and Bouck had just led eighteen men from America’s 394th Regiment in a desperate day of fighting against five hundred and fifty German infantry. It was an action that would make his unit one of the most decorated in history, and that played an important part in stalling Germany’s last great advance of World War Two.
How did this tiny unit end up in such a critical role, and how did they rise to the occasion?
