This video showing the La Soufriere volcano was submitted by a resident in St Vincent a short while ago.
Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves issued the immediate evacuation order yesterday as conditions at the volcano intensified further.
The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre confirmed the explosion this morning.
