The Nobel Prize winning research of Daniel Kahneman, with his long time collaborator, Amos Tversky, examines how we make decisions. Kahneman proposed that we have a slow thinking system and a fast thinking system. The fast system relies on quick-and-dirty or "guestimate" like rules known as heuristics. This first segment of our lecture on judgment and decision making introduces the field and the concept of heuristics.
