Does Acts 2:27 and Acts 2:31 teach that Jesus suffered torment in a burning hell between his death and resurrection?
It is argued by a vocal minority that Christ suffered torment or burned in hell. In previous videos on this channel, I have used the scripture to refute that idea. I have vehemently refuted the notion that Jesus became a burnt sacrifice and that it was required as part of fulfilling Old Testament Law.
Nevertheless, there is a strong insistence by some that Acts 2:27 and Acts 2:31 insist that Jesus suffered torment. Everyone that I have heard from who holds this position has been strong King James-Onlyists. In particular, they are Ruckmanites, followers of Peter Ruckman, that believe in re-inspiration and that even looking back at the Hebrew or Greek for clarity is actually “going outside the text”. These are not TR-only or Byzantine-preferred people. They are Authorized Version only and you cannot even go back to the known sources that the King James translators used in their translation work. That position is ludicrous and inconsistent with the message of the King James translators.
