Florian Hoefner is a Juno-winning pianist and bandleader, composer, arranger and Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at Memorial University in St. John's, Newfoundland. Hoefner’s latest record “First Spring” (2019) with Andrew Downing and Nick Fraser was nominated for a 2021 Juno for Jazz Album of the Year: Group. With his quartet, the Florian Hoefner Group, he has released 3 albums, the latest “Luminosity” (2016) featured tenor saxophonist Seamus Blake. As a composer, Hoefner’s work has been performed by ensembles including Subtone, Peter Kronreif Wayfarers, Iris Trio, Lucerne Jazz Orchestra, Till Brönner, and the Danjam Orchestra.
