Hi everyone, today we are going to learn about Virtual Tourism.
Virtual tour is a simulation of an existing location, usually composed of a sequence of videos or still images.
One example of virtual tour is virtual reality. Virtual Reality can be accessed by two methods.
Firstly, by an application. Virtual Reality started in the late 1950s, Apple Inc. released a “Quicktime VR Panoramic Tour Application” consists of still images that were stitched together to create a 360 view of the world. (Tukianen)
Virtual Reality or better known as VR is the most amazing technology in existence. You can use VR to check out casino or museum from your coach or take a trip to Bath while you are in bath.
VR tour are effective because it can helps to enticing people, help them plan what are they going to do and how to manage their time during the trip.
VR allows you to quickly experience things that would otherwise take you weeks to research.
Secondly, VR also can be shown through the websites. For example, Bode 360 – A Virtual Tour of The Berlin Bode Museum. It is a web based panoramic museum tour.
Virtual tourism can be accessed by multiple users through an online interface. It also promises the boundless possibility of new discovery.
Futhermore, Virtual tours allow tourism businesses to present their products and travel information in a dynamic way so that tourists can gain a richer understanding of the destination. For example, virtual world provide opportunities for the Destination Management Organizations (DMOs) to create a uniquely personal experience for individual who is looking for travel information through virtual tourism.
It can be applied as a marketing tools such as advertising, internet, and sale promotion to communicate with consumers to influence tourist decision making.
Tourism marketers can utilize virtual sites to promote destination branding as well as to enhance or change the image of the destinations.
Other than that, virtual tourisms are much less expensive compared to the traditional marketing methods such as print and radio advertisements. It also have the potential to offer a more personal experience.
Virtual Reality is the future of vacation planning. VR can let you get a taste of a place or activity before you actually decide to visit them. It also allows travelers a chance to plot out their trip that suits their style and desire.
In conclusion, VR can give people a preview and understanding of what they would experience if they visit physically.
