Fresh from recording their sophomore effort Rise Up and a month before it's 2013, W.E.T. put together a one off show in Stockholm. This rare event, whose attendance grew mostly through viral web campaign, was recorded for a DVD and a double CD for Frontiers Records.
Of course, we know W.E.T. as Robert Sall (the "W" from Work of Art), Erik Martensson (the "E" from Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (the "T" from Talisman), along with Magnus Henriksson (rg, lg, bgv), Robban Back (d), and Andreas Passmark (b). We also know both their debut album and Rise Up got critical acclaim. With One Live In Stockholm, you get a cross section from both albums, with the audience, that night, hearing some of the new material for the very first time.
The band also performed several songs from the principal's respective. There's Bleed & Scream from Eclipse, sung by Erik Martensson; The Great Fall from Work of Art, with Lars Safsund, lead singer; and two from Talisman, Mysterious and I'll Be Waiting.
As for this audio recording, the sound pretty terrific if not having a sharp character to it, especially from the guitars. This has the affect of making it feel a bit rough around the edges. Alternatively, it also displays the energy of both the music and the performance. You'll hear this in Walk Away, Invincible, Bad Boy, Mysterious, and The Great Fall. There's only one real ballad here, Comes Down Like Rain; everything else basically rocks.
