After over 2 years of grinding and at least 183,293 failed attempts, I finally broke the 20 second barrier. This was probably one of the best days for my first sub 20, since today was also the day of the solar eclipse, where I experienced totality for the first time. Getting this time was also completely unexpected, since I had a few missdrops during the run, and usually I need to slow down to find the best way to clear the garbage. Sub 20 has been my goal for 40L for so long, that this makes me want to stop grinding this category and find something else to play. However, this has been my go-to game for a quick time killer for so long, since each game lasts less than 30 seconds and a mistake or distraction won't hurt that much since I can always start again in 3 seconds. I even felt myself wanting to move my mouse to go click Tetris again while I was preparing the replay files for upload. Should I keep playing Tetris during short amounts of free time, or does anyone watching this have recommendations for other games that I could start grinding instead?
Stats:
Total games: 183,293
Total wins: 19,704 (10.75%)
24.XXX games: 1,728
23.XXX games: 1,501
22.XXX games: 871
21.XXX games: 357
20.XXX games: 57
19.XXX games: 1
*Total games and wins include a ~2 week period before I realized that there was a setting to save all replays instead of just won games, plus there is a bug that prevents a replay from saving if you reset with Esc (instead of Enter) and then close the game without starting another run. They also include a few runs I did with a different line count, but I would assume at least 99.8% of those runs are 40L.
