Falafel is a middle eastern food made with soaked chickpeas or garbanzo beans. If you haven't tried baked version of falafel then you must try this as it is loaded with flavors and goodness to health. It is very crispy from outside and soft inside, it is very similar to South Indian Masala Vada. Ideally its blended using food processor but you wont be needing it normal blender(Mixie) is enough but must check the consistency to be rightly coarse.
If you are someone who would like to eat healthy then this is for you, its packed with plant based protein and other vitamins and minerals we need. Its another best snack for vegetarians and vegans.
Tip here is to soak chickpeas at least 6 hrs and not more than 8hrs (Overnight) to get right texture. Do not use canned chickpeas as it would be more wet and we wont be getting the texture to form shape and as well wont be crispy.
You can serve it with hummus or salad bowl with sour cream or simply have it any of your favorite dip. I have served with simple plain thick yogurt and it tasted really good.

Preheat Oven to 375 F / 190 C
Bake Time : 25-30 min (Flip halfway)
Serves : 6
Prep time : 6 hrs (Soaking Time)
Cook Time : 30 min
- Dry Chickpea / Garbanzo Beans - 1 Cup
- Water to Soak
- Salt
- Cumin Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Pepper Powder - 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tsp
- Onion - 1/2 part of medium size
- Parsley - handful
- Coriander Leaves - handful
- Garlic - 4-5 Cloves
- Oil to Drizzle
