Insulin resistance causes and treatment
..................................
Insulin resistance refers to a condition where the body's cells do not respond adequately to insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps regulate blood sugar levels. When the body's cells do not respond to insulin, the body compensates by producing more insulin. Over time, this situation can lead to increased blood sugar levels and eventually type 2 diabetes. Signs and symptoms of insulin resistance may include weight gain, especially in the abdominal area, excessive fatigue, increased appetite, high blood pressure, and elevated blood sugar levels.
Several factors can contribute to insulin resistance, including obesity and overweight, physical inactivity, a diet high in simple carbohydrates and sugars, genetics and family history of diabetes, and stress and insufficient sleep. To reduce insulin resistance, the following measures can be taken: losing weight, especially around the abdomen, can reduce insulin resistance; regular physical activity helps improve insulin sensitivity; consuming low-carbohydrate and high-fiber foods can improve the condition; regular and sufficient sleep is also effective in improving insulin sensitivity; and stress management techniques such as meditation and yoga can be beneficial.
If you have symptoms of insulin resistance or are at risk, consulting with a doctor and undergoing relevant tests can help you manage and prevent more serious problems.
