LEAD IN
A group of enthusiasts from Ukraine have spent every day for the past three years building a replica tank.
And the result is surprisingly realistic.
STORYLINE
This is a replica German tank from the Second World War era.
It's based on a Pz3 tank and has been lovingly handmade by a group of military enthusiasts in southern Ukraine.
It was the brainchild of tank fan Mykhaylo Krupenko, who uses it to play war games with friends.
He and other locals drive the tank, dress in military uniforms, fire dummy rifles and throw fake grenades.
He says he it built to encourage young people away from computer games and to show them a bit of history in action.
The tank was one used by the Germans during the Second World War.
One young man local resident Dmytro Ivanov says he is learning to use the tank.
"I'm a mechanic-driver assistant. The tank is driving very well and can cross obstacles. Unfortunately, the speed is not so fast."
Krupenko says the tank took three years to build and was made entirely from scrap metal.
He adds not one single military component was used but rather they built the tank from discarded things they found.
"The subject of Second World War is very popular. And we like this too. We meet after work to make a replica tank. We did it from what the stuff could find - metal parts from pipes, refrigerators and beds."
Krupenko and his friends are now working on another project, building a Soviet cargo truck.
That will keep the residents of Alupka busy for some time.
