Consuming leafy green vegetables is important for a number of reasons when it comes to our health. They provide numerous vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that aren’t found in other types of foods and promote our overall health. Kale is no different, and in fact, kale may just be in a class of its own. One of the most nutrient dense foods in the world, it contains many different vital nutrients and compounds, including vitamin K, C and A. Kale is also high in minerals such as manganese, copper and potassium. Lets discuss some amazing health benefits of eating kale consistently.
1. First, kale is a great source of many different potent and powerful antioxidant compounds. This includes unique antioxidants such as quercetin and kaempferol. These two flavonoids provide tremendous anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular benefits. Kale also contain great levels of other antioxidants such as beta-carotene, polyphenols and vitamin C. This allows kale to help get rid of free radicals in the body and reduce oxidative damage caused by them.
2. Consuming kale consistently can also help to reduce the risk of heart disease a number of different ways. Studies have found that kale can help to reduce cholesterol levels. The great levels of antioxidant compounds and vitamin C also work to protect the cardiovascular system and promote the overall health of our heart.

This is because it contains many different vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that help to eliminate inflammation when consumed consistently. As well, kale is unique since it contains inflammation reducing omega-3 fatty acids, which allows it to naturally reduce inflammation. Kale is also a tremendous natural detoxifier. It can neutralize toxins in the body and help with their elimination. This is often attributed to unique compounds in kale which can promote detoxification at the cellular level.
4. Kale is also a great choice for those individuals looking to improve the overall health of their eyes since it can promote healthy vision. This is because kale contains two nutrients, lutein and zeaxanthin, which are incredibly important for the health of our eyes. These nutrients have been shown to help prevent certain eye ailments, such as cataracts and macular degeneration. Lutein and zeaxanthin help to protect the eyes, maintain healthy cells and have antioxidant benefits for the eyes.
5. Lastly, kale may provide benefits regarding certain types of cancer. Studies have demonstrated that kale contain compounds that can promote cancer prevention and protect against cancer. This is often attributed to the glucosinolates found in kale, which are sulfur containing and biologically active compounds. Also, kale can be beneficial in this regard due to the large amount of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and anti-inflammatory compounds it contains.
