Almost every religion claims to be ancient and to have something to do with the beginning of the universe itself. But these are just claims. As far as the order of things is concerned, religions are hardly ever older than a few thousand years. And the universe and its true history is quite a bit older than that. So it is not the atheist who is forgetting the past, it is the religious person.
