REMASTERED CLIP - Shirley Bassey performed a Production Number of her 1972 recording titled, 'Jezahel' on her 1976 TV Show. This song was recorded and included on her 1972 album titled, 'And I Love You So'. In a concert setting, Shirley seldom included backup singers or dancers. But, for her late 1970s TV Shows, she did have quite a few production numbers. This style of entertainment was common back in the 1960s and 1970s. It was what one would call 'Old Fashion Entertainment at its Best'. The original Italian songwriters (Music & Lyrics) are Ivano Fossati, and Oscar Prudente. It was adapted into English by Brian Keith. This song was first performed and released by Delirium in 1972. In addition to English, this song has been adapted to Finnish, French, Greek and Swedish languages.
ABOUT the Album, 'And I Love You So': This is a 1972 album by Shirley Bassey. It was released late in 1972 to positive reviews; it was Bassey's fourth album of the decade and was one of the albums which comprised her 'comeback' period of the 1970s. Unlike the earlier albums, this didn't feature any hit singles and consequently didn't fare as well as the previous three. It made No. 24, and remained on the chart for 9 weeks, reaching its peak on Christmas week, resulting in higher than average sales. Singles released were "And I Love You So" (a cover of the Don McLean hit) and "The Ballad of the Sad Young Men", although the CD liner notes consider tracks "If We Only Have Love" and "The Way of Love" to be stronger single choices. The title track did however become a UK top three hit some months later for Perry Como.
LYRICS:
Come tomorrow way down south in St. Amore, whoa, oh, oh
Reunited with my love in St. Amore, oh, oh, oh
Jezahel, Jezahel
Jezahel, Jezahel
Will we both go home so we can be together, oh, oh, oh
Really both go home to stay in love forever, oh, oh, oh
Jezahel, Jezahel
Jezahel, Jezahel
Scorching sun upon a beach near Efantina, whoa, oh, oh
Out of reach, where there's no one to come between us, oh, oh, oh
Jezahel, Jezahel
Jezahel, Jezahel
