"He went out to search for work to buy bread. To get a piece of bread, we had to walk on our bloodied feet. Our livelihoods are all about buying some bread. We are in a camp. We are in a camp with no land. We have no salaries, no jobs that allow us to earn in Syrian (lira) or Turkish (lira). We have no salaries. We are dayworkers. And if you are a dayworker in Syria, you get no salary. So he went to find a job in Turkey."

STORYLINE:
Syrian migrant Abdelkhalil al-Siyah left Syria earlier this month and headed to Turkey in search of a better life, but was returned to his home country days later - in a body bag.
He and seven others tried to cross into Turkey on March 12, hoping they would find opportunities on the other side of the border.
Some of those who accompanied Abdelkhalil during the journey said Turkey's border patrol caught them as they were trying to cross illegally.
They recounted being beaten so severely that two people were killed, including Abdelkhalil.
Of this group of migrants, four young men were taken to Turkey for an investigation, then released a few days ago, according to their families.
Abdelkhalil was missing for several days days, during which his family had no news of his whereabouts, until his bruised body was returned to Syria.
But attitudes gradually hardened as the number of newcomers swelled over the past decade.
