We'll explain why this simple photograph could hold the key to unlocking a millennium-old mystery. What are your thoughts? What does this image show? So, hello and Welcome back to Money tree, Before we address that question, let us look at another world wonder, the Great Wall of China.
China has one of the first civilizations. Early Chinese invented paper and gunpowder. They built the world's longest man-made building. The Great Wall spans 400 communities in northern and central China and is 21,000 km long. It's not one continuous structure, despite popular perception. Its beginnings date to the 8th and 5th centuries BC.
China was divided at the time into several smaller states that were always at war with one another in order to extend their domains. The governors of these lesser states began to construct massive walls to keep intruders out.
The materials used in the construction of the Great Wall varied widely based on the topography and materials accessible in the surrounding locations. Rammed earth and wood were used in several places, while the strongest sections of the wall were built using marble, bricks, and a secret substance that has kept it standing for centuries.
The secret component is a peculiar mortar containing sticky rice. It was introduced during the Ming dynasty and proved to be as strong and waterproof as cement, sealing the bricks so firmly that weeds could not grow between them. Many Ming Era parts are still standing today, even after surviving severe weather events and earthquakes. However, constructing the world's longest man-made structure was no easy undertaking.
