At 6-feet 6-inches tall Rodney doesn't fit comfortably (if at all) in many light aircraft. Here he goes flying in the Zenith STOL CH 750 Super Duty (equipped with the repositionable UnPanel glass panel display from Avilution) with Roger Dubbert from the Zenith Aircraft kit factory and discusses cabin size, comfort and fit.
Rodney and his daughter participated at the August hands-on kit aircraft building workshop at the Zenith factory.
The STOL CH 750 Super Duty is the latest model in the Zenith high-wing lineup. The resemblance between the STOL CH 750 Super Duty (SD) and the original STOL CH 750 light-sport aircraft is obvious, but the Super Duty offers an increased useful load, the addition of a jump seat in the big rear cabin area, and more powerful engine choices for maximum short take-off and landing (STOL) capability.
Like its predecessors, the STOL CH 750 SD offers extraordinary STOL performance. The factory demonstrator aircraft can take off in only 115 feet with 205 horsepower. It climbs at 1,350 feet per minute, and cruise speed is respectable at 105 mph in stock configuration (with bush tires). The landing roll is just 150 feet. The 34 mile per hour stall speed means the airplane excels at slow flight, with excellent maneuverability right down to the gentle, mushing stall.
Please excuse the audio quality. We were experimenting with an external mic plugged into the GoPro Hero8 camera.
