I enjoy performing routine cataract surgery as much as challenging or unusual cases. There is a beauty and elegance in achieving the state of flow during surgery. As you gain more experience, you will fine tune every step of the surgery, from draping to checking the incisions. Spending time improving your performance and refining your techniques for routine cases has the biggest benefit. It is great to learn complex techniques for unusual cases such as scleral fixated IOLs, but how many of those cases do you perform each year?
