The Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday approved a new excise policy for the state aimed at generating 40% more revenue and breaking the nexus of the mafia involved in the liquor trade. With the new policy that includes extensive law enforcement and the incorporation of new technological measures, CM Mann hopes to stop the smuggling of liquor from neighbouring states.
The Bhagwant Mann Government of Punjab approved a new excise policy last Wednesday i.e.June 8. As a result, liquor prices in the state may fall by 30-40 per cent. According to the report of India Today, the Punjab government has issued a new policy to break the racket of liquor mafias and earn 40% extra profits.
