YouTube Comments Have Moved - YouTube New Comment Update
So the other day I noticed that YouTube has changed the location of their comment section on mobile devices to the very top of the video. You might not have noticed it but it's a small strip that you have to click on to open a drop down menu to read or post comments.
The problem with this new interface change is very simple; You can't see the recommended videos, thus not as many people will click on potentially great videos, OR people will stop commenting as often as there's simply too much hassle for the casual YouTube viewer to open a drop down menu simply to comment.
The effects of this will be noticed more by smaller and up and coming creators. This is due to the fact that YouTube judges if your video is worth recommending to people based on two main factors; Click-through rate and audience engagement.
What this means is that if your video even IS recommended, if the potential viewer wants to read comments, then they won't see your video to click on in the first place.
The second issue is if they do get on your video, they'll probably not be bothered to comment on your video by having to go into the drop down menu, which in turn means less audience engagement in your video.
All in all it is a stupid change that needs to be addressed ASAP by YouTube.
