This is a demonstration of just how easy it is to hand launch an EDF. Most hand launch failures come from throwing the aircraft hard. The best method is to hold the aircraft level, point it where you want it to go, and give it a firm push with the nose about 5 degrees upward. Depending on the power of your EDF, your throttle setting will vary, but usually you want to be at 3/4 thottle so that the EDF can start grabbing the air and giving you good control. I move up to full throttle after allowing the EDF to move straight and true on its own, and then I make a gradual turn to the right as I gain altitude. I will then move to 2/3 - 3/4 throttle for most of the flight, and use full throttle for high speed passes from time to time.
This model is the Starmax 64mm F9F-2 Panther. It has the stock EDF fan unit, ExceedRC 4300kv EDF motor, Hobbywing 40A ESC, and SkyLipo 2200mah 40C packs.
I get 6 minutes of spirited flight with the 2200mah battery. If you modify yours to take a 2200mah, you must make sure to use a 40A ESC. With a 1300mah battery, the max amps that my motor pulled were around 27A, but with the 2200mah battery, the max amps are around 34A.
