There are 15 Stray Fairies in total. All of the Stray Fairy locations are the same between the N64 and 3DS versions.


Stray Fairies:
#1 (0:07): In the very first room where the turtle drops you off, light all 4 torches on fire to make a chest containing the fairy appear.

#2 (1:05): Underneath the entrance platform in the second room there is a fairy trapped in bubble.

#3 (1:14): In the same room as #2, take either of the elevators up and kill the lone Skulltula in the northwest corner to release the fairy.

#4 (1:42): In the main room of the temple with the turbine, jump down to the left and climb the ladder that leads up to a barrel. Break open the barrel to release the fairy.

#5 (2:00): In the same room as #4 there is a jar at the bottom of the water in the very middle. Shooting it with an arrow is the easiest way to break it and obtain the fairy.

#6 (2:32): Go to the room that is north of the main turbine room and behind the waterfall. From the entrance if you look up there is a target. Use the Hookshot and while you're being pulled up to it, hold "forward" and mash the "B" button to slash with your sword. This should allow you to land on the grating above. Once up there, open the chest to get the fairy.

If you have difficulty landing it then simply use ice arrows to reach either of the back corners of the room. Hookshot the target above you and you'll land on the grating without issue.

#7 (3:10): In the main turbine room take the upper pathway underwater. In the room you are brought to there are a few platforms, the 3rd of which has 2 jars on it. The fairy is in one of the jars.

#8 (4:20): Continue on from the room with fairy #7, passed the 2 Dexihands until you reach the room with 4 Bio Deku Babas. Kill all 4 of them and a chest containing the fairy will appear.

#9 (5:11): In the room that has the chest containing the ice arrows, if you look down into the current you'll see a couple of Dexihands and a jar. Break the jar to release the fairy.

Shooting the jar and using the Great Fairy Mask is a much easier way to get this fairy than trying to get it by swimming through there as Zora Link.


For the remaining 6 Stray Fairies you'll have to change the direction the water is flowing.
#10 (8:28): With the water direction now changed, take the new upper pathway that is underwater in the turbine room. Ride the elevator in this room up, freeze the water so the wheel stops, and jump onto the wheel so that you can use the Hookshot to reach the chest that is in the alcove in the north wall.

#11 (9:30): From fairy #10, jump back onto the water wheel and use the Hookshot on the chest that is in the other alcove toward the southeast section of the room. It might be easier to reach this chest by Hookshotting from the platform that is to the left (if looking toward the wheel) of the alcove containing fairy #10.

#12 (10:47): In the room with the see-saws, drop into the pool of water underneath the first see-saw. Break open the barrel at the bottom of the pool to release the fairy.

#13 (11:30): In the same room as fairy #12, navigate the see-saws until you reach the thing that you push to get the water flowing. Walk down the pipe toward the Bombchu and use the Zora mask to jump up onto the upper part of the pipe. Walk along it until you can drop down into the caged off platform and Hookshot to the chest that contains a fairy.

#14 (12:38): Back in the main turbine room, take the bottom passageway underwater. In the next room, head to the right and there with be a passageway that has a fairy trapped in a bubble. Shoot it with the Zora Boomerangs to free it.

#15 (13:00): In the same room as #14, stand on the pipe that leads out of the water and look in the area that is underneath the structure in the middle of the room to find a fairy trapped in a bubble.
