What is "Twang"? Seems that the abuse of the term “Twang”, in relation to the Telecaster, generated some confusion, misconceptions or false myths.
Here we have a superb vintage original Fender Telecaster from 1960; it’s the perfect tool to shed
some light on some lesser known and celebrated aspects of the "pure Telecaster’s tone".
In particular, this guitar presents many mutual features with the legendary "Dragon" Telecaster, used by Jimmy Page on the first album of the Led Zeppelin and throughout the early period of the band.
This video also explains clearly Fender's "slab board" neck construction technique from late 50's as opposed to the later "curved" and "veneer fretboard" techniques.
Furthermore, we have the chance to hear an ultimate comparison test between top loader bridge and
string-through body ferrules.
Finally, the original 1953-1967 "Deep Rhythm" or "Dark" circuit is plainly explained and demonstrated.
Other featured guitar players (in order of appearance) are: Marty Stewart, Kenny
Vaughan, Brad Paisley, Mark Knopfler, Hank Marvin, Richard Thompson and Eric Johnson.
