The Red Hot Chili Peppers' latest album "Unlimited Love" consummates my affection for John Frusciante's guitar playing on "Stadium Arcadium" growing up. Flea's bass playing is also out of this world and this latest album has left me feeling uplifted and inspired.
I hope to share my love for this music with my students by providing them with a quality video detailing how to play it. I recommend 75% speed until you're comfortable before ramping it up to 100%.
The song really reminds me of the Who and you can almost hear John Frusciante channeling Pete Townshend's windmill in the buildups. Live on Howard Stern John mentions that the inspiration came from the Sparks album "Propoganda".
I recommend slowing down the speed of the video while you play along it. Youtube has this functionality built in. Some of the tab is different to the way I played it because I recorded this just before I got shoulder surgery so I didn't have time to put on headphones and perfect it.
The sheet music and tab represents what I heard from listening closely to John Frusciante's guitar parts so should be quite accurate. I used Sibelius to create the transcription you see at the bottom of the video and Final Cut Pro for the editing of the video.
