Yes I am a soprano (and a high soprano at that!) but that doesn't mean I ignore my lower ranges. Because our voices are malleable and will grow and change throughout our lifetime. There are songs that are easy for me now that I absolutely couldn't sing even ten years ago, I couldn't hit those low notes. But through attention to my lower range, I grew my voice. So yes this video is fantastic for those already lucky enough to have rich lower voices, but for us higher voiced peeps, it's fab too!
I this video we start as always by finding our breath and then we move on to some lip bubble arpeggios (my fave SOVT!) Next it's some interval slides on a hum opening up to an ahh before five note scales to woo eees. Our final exercise is singing the word more to a melodic pattern, really leaning into the lovely rich resonance of lower ranges. So much fun!
