February 21, 2020: We visited the ancient Nabataean city of Petra in the country of Jordan. This place is AMAZING, and HUGE. It was a long day of walking, starting with about a 2 mile walk from our hotel down to the beginning of the "Siq" (the 3/4 mile long rock walled pathway into Petra.) This walkway opens up at what is called "The Treasury" - made famous by one of the Indiana Jones movies ("The Last Crusade").
Once we got into the main part of the city, I heard some from our group talking about climbing to the Monastery. My wife, who suffers from chronic pain (fibromyalgia and other ailments) opted to stay at ground level and enjoy the many sights there. But she encouraged me to make the climb and capture the experience on video. I video'd the climb UP in bits and pieces. But once I got to the top, charged up my phone by solar power at the top (and rested from the climb), I opted to run the camera the entire way down so that anyone who wanted to see this in real-time could do so. I only stopped momentarily at one spot... I spent 15 minutes talking with a young shopkeeper who saw my battery pack and asked very nicely if I could charge her phone. In the end, I didn't have the right cable for her phone, but I did buy something from her gift shop.
Relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Petra!
