Movie: “The Wizard Of Oz” (MGM), starring Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, and Margaret Hemilton.
Audio from CD source, the original 78rpm single was issued on Decca 2672 - Over The Rainbow (Harold Arlen-E. Y. Harburg) by Judy Garland, orchestra conducted by Victor Young, recorded in Los Angeles July 28, 1939. The enduring standard spent seven weeks at #1 on “Your Hit Parade” and sold a fair number of 78s for various artists. This is Judy’s famous commercial recording--different from her movie soundtrack performance.
