This is our monthly webinar for the treatment of floaters. In this webinar, I discuss the difference between FOV and vitrectomy and talk about various reasons to perform a vitrectomy other than to remove vitreous opacities, aka floaters.
Vitrectomy is the core operation performed by a retina specialist to repair: macular holes, retinal detachments, remove epiretinal membranes, clear a vitreous hemorrhage or to remove floaters.
Removing the vitreous allows me to more safely gain access to the retina in situations other than removing floaters. Hence, "FOV" or floaters only vitrectomy means that the vitrectomy is performed to remove the vitreous opacities.
The important message is that FOV and "vitrectomy" are exactly the same procedure.
I hope you enjoy this webinar. The Q & A is always valuable.
