For nearly 10 years there’s one abandoned place in the world that has been calling to me more than any other, Buzludzha Bulgaria. The former communist party house is an incredibly unique UFO-looking structure on the top of Mount Buzludzha.

Some of our most memorable travel experiences have been at abandoned places. From el miro in Costa Rica to Kilmanskop in Namibia, these places just seem to completely mesmerize us. There’s just something about being able to see these places that were once so full of life slowly being retaken by nature.

This experience was no different, the Buzludzha monument is a remarkable site. It’s simply huge and very imposing even in its abandoned state.
