(11 Sep 2020) US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun held talks with his counterparts from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar on Friday to strengthen their relationship.
Starting from an initiative to connect the US with Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, the group has upgraded it to a "partnership", a higher level of cooperation, allowing the US to further engage in the socio-economic development in the region.
The four Asian countries are members of the Mekong River Commission established in 1995 as a joint management of shared water resources and sustainable development of the Mekong River.
