The Diprotodon was a prehistoric wombat that was quite literally the size of a modern day car. It went extinct some 46,000 years ago, but before then, it roamed almost every section of Australia, grazing on plants, shrubs and possibly even grass.
The Diprotodon is closely related to wombats and koalas. It is a marsupial that evolved to a dramatic size. It could grow up to 4 meters or 13 feet in length and it weighed over 2,700 kilograms which is nearly 6,000 pounds.
