Geminoid F visits the new Creative Robotics Lab within the National Institute of Experimental Arts at UNSW Australia's College of Fine Arts.
The Creative Robotics Lab is a cross-disciplinary research environment that seeks to understand how humans can interact with robots. It brings an artist's perspective to the challenge of creating robots that relate more naturally to humans.
This research hopes to find out more about how humans relate to robots rather than the other way around. What attracts and repels? There's even a project to create artificial skin that "reacts" to human touch.
Forty percent of all robots are in Japan, where Geminoid hails from. Diamondini, another robot currently at COFA, is the creation of Mari Velonaki, head of UNSW's Creative Robotics Lab. She's rather an elegant Victorian miss who engaged crowds the Victorian and Albert Museum in the UK.
