Hi friends! Artsy/Artme reached out to me and asked if I would like to try a new set of watercolors, since I have always been happy with their novelty fan style palettes [ Ссылка ] in the past I decided to give it a try. This is a long video, and my impression of these paints changes from the swatching to the loose rose demo and finally the landscape painting. I think these paints are best suited to brush lettering and calligraphy artists where having a large array of mixed colors, including opaque pearl colors, would be ideal and the viscosity of the paint would be a benefit.

*Note, I'm pretty sure this is the same set Grabie sells for 2x the price!
Pros:
Price (18 cents per color)
Colors are vibrant
Variety of colors (Standard, neon, pastel, metallic)
The included waterbrushes, pencil and eraser and nice
Comes with a swatch card
Non toxic conforms to the ASTM
Cons
Many of the paints have a gritty speckly sludge that settles out in wet washes, though it is not apparent when used at mass tone
The paints stained the plastic palette badly, I think they are using food and cosmetic-grade dyes rather than artist-grade dyes.
There is no Ultramarine blue which is an essential color in my opinion
Bottom line: The price per color is low but for the total cost of this set you can purchase much nicer paint if you wish to create watercolor paintings. For instance, the 36 set of Pretty Excellent (Meiliang) watercolor is less and it will serve you much better: [ Ссылка ] In my opinion if you want to paint well in watercolors it is better to have fewer, better quality watercolors. I do this this paint would be excellent for brush lettering artists because the consistency would be great on cardstock and envelopes and the metallic colors are opaque for fancy lettering on dark envelopes. I might actually keep this set for that use only. If you are interested in the Drawnby 168 watercolor set you can find it here: [ Ссылка ]
