As you heard, this scheme started three and a half years ago, and it was decided then that money raised would be spent in the town from which most of the campers had come from. As a result of this either fields or pavilion have been started or are planning in, or in an enormous number of places, Coventry, Liverpool, Halifax Oldham and Bolton, Carlisle, and I think tomorrow Wigan will be added to the list. Now the joint committee between Butlins and the NPFA which decides upon the allocation of this money, and at the moment they negotiating with Glasgow, to start a field there with the money raised in Scottish Camps. As you heard, tonight's cheque brings the total collected in the last two years to 30,000 pounds I think the must have been almost as surprised as you were at the time. I think this is a wonderful achievement, and I congratulate you, every one of you, no matter how small your contribution was, I'm told that the success of this scheme was largely due to the voluntary House-Chairman, who organised the collection of which there are 180 of them here tonight and I think they deserve our recognition and thanks - it's all very well to praise the cow but don't forget the milkmaid she delivers the milk - but I wanted them right away they'd got a hard year ahead of them, and I have much pleasure in presenting this to Mr. Newington, the controller.
